The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) was enacted by the US Congress in 2000 to address concerns about children's access to obscene or harmful content over the Internet (specifically pornography). CIPA imposes requirements on both schools and public libraries that receive discounts for Internet access or internal connections through the E-rate program – a program that makes certain communications services and products more affordable for eligible schools and libraries. The latest updates to this rule were made in 2011. If you are a school or public library you can find more details here: https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/childrens-internet-protection-act
.CleanBrowsing provides protection measures that block or filter Internet access to pictures that are: (a) obscene; (b) child pornography; or (c) harmful to minors (for computers that are accessed by minors). This is a specific CIPA requirement designed to ensure safe online experiences for students. CleanBrowsing can also be used to monitor the online activities of minors, another CIPA requirement.
Schools have complex networks and need to be able to support multiple devices and operating systems. CleanBrowsing helps with this:
1- DNS Based Solution
2- Supports Active Directory
3- Supports ChromeBooks, MacBooks, Windows
4- Can function as a DNS Forwarder
In addition to explicit blocking of obscene or explicit content, CleanBrowsing empowers you to take control through a series of default filters (total of 14), custom application blocking, and an engine that allows you to define your own block categories if our options are not enough.
Default filters allow an organization to control categories of content like: Social, Gambling, Violence, Torrents, VPN's, and number of other categories. Custom application blocking introduces enhanced experiences on applications like YouTube, Vimeo, Twitter, Instagram, and a number of other applications that offer safe browsing options. Lastly, you have the ability to create custom block pages with their own branding and content so that students, parents and employees can have direct engagement with your team and have access to your Internet Safety Policy.
